There are three ways to look at how something is considered old:
First is relatively. Most computers live around 2-5 years, and thus one computer can be considered old if its age is around late 3 years old, to 5 years old.
Another way to look at it is when your computer parts start failing, like I have a computer of which is about 2 years old, but the network card is faulty and doesn't work. This made me buy a new one and thus is now my "old" computer.
The last way to look at it is relatively to what others have. If someone has a completely new computer with the new 980 Nvidia graphic card and so on, whilst you have a gtx 860 generation you can consider yours old even if it will work for several years to come, due to their computer being so far ahead of yours.

∙ 11y agoGenerally, the first thing to go is the hard drive. Other than that, they can last for a very long time.. 5+ years? There's no law on how long a computer can last, but generally they become obsolete before they are defunct because everything upgrades so dang fast!
