The puppy should meet as many different dogs as possible as soon as they've had their shots. They should begin meeting tons of people as soon as you bring them home. Invite some friends over to visit the puppy and/or neighbors. The more socialized a pup is the better they will be as adults.

Dogs is a pack on their own will bite, mouth, or snap as play, as reprimand, as affection, or to show who is dominate. Puppies play like this as practice for joining the pack. However, since your family is not a pack of dogs, it is something that has to be trained out of them. If you supply them with plenty of toys, and do not play roughly with them from early on, it should not be a difficult thing to overcome.
