i think you should keep it away just incase e male dog eats them my dog is pregnant and the male is fine with her but when she has her puppies we will put him some where so i would be aware just incase your pups ger eaten!

∙ 12y agoNo he shouldn't because dogs have paternal instincts, unlike cats they are naturally fathers towards their offspring.
However if they were taken away from their parents too early the may not know how to take on that role.

∙ 9y agoWhen a bitch has had her puppies she wants to be very private and doesn't allow any other dog help her process. Most bitches are happy to have their trusted family be with them but not other dogs or strangers. Male dogs are usually not interested in the puppies but could do them harm if they are allowed into the whelping pen. All other animals should be kept away from very small puppies. If mothers get nervous they could try to move their tiny offspring.
Other dogs could be gradually introduced with close supervision when the puppies are beginning to interact with the world without their mother. This often begins about four or five weeks of age but I wouldn't let any other dog 'play' with the puppies or help with the puppies until the puppies are much older, bigger and stronger.
