Prince Arthur, the elder son of Henry VII and Elizabeth of York, and heir to the throne, was born on 20 September 1486 and died on 2 April 1502, making him nearly 16. His death made his younger brother Henry heir to the throne (Henry VIII). Arthur had been married to Katherine of Aragon, and eventually Henry VIII married Katherine, as it was believed that Katherine's marriage to Arthur had never been consummated. This fact would be turned around in later years, when Henry wanted to divorce Katherine, and needed to find a reason to do so.
Prince Arthur died on the 2nd April 1502 in Ludlow Castle and was buried in Worcester Cathedral.
Arthur Tudor died of consumption (tuberculosis as it was then known) at the age of 15.
