If you have a small dog 8lbs. under, then I would say it is unlikely but possible that a large fish will try to eat it. It is more likely that a curious, brave, and greedy fish will grab a leg and maybe drown your dog than swallow and eat it.
It depends on type of bass. A small mouth... 2-3lbs.12" or longer large mouth...4-6lbs.18"or longer. rock bass are smaller 8"to 10"would be big. These are nice size, but will get much bigger.
