You would need to eat more than half of your body weight in magic mushrooms to physically overdose on them, so that is physically impossible.

On the other side, it is very well possible to psychologically overdose on them, and have a trip that is far from pleasant and really overwhelming. Some people are looking for that kind of disturbing experiences and will consciously ingest lots of mushrooms, but most people are simply not ready for this.

If you want to explore your psyche, you will be able to increase the dose slowly as you gain experience. Test your response to each dose, and stop when it's too much. Don't push yourself to insanity.

If you mean magic mushrooms then no. Eating shrooms is poisonous to limited thinking and small-mindedness, but harmful, certainly not!

The danger lies in eating misidentified shrooms. Always make sure of the type of mushroom you are about to consume! One mistake is sometimes all you get.

Three ways to get shrooms: Know your mushrooms and forage them, Grow your mushrooms yourself, or get your magic mushrooms from a trusted source...I use this one for mine...always excellent.

SOME mushrooms and many toadstools are toxic. They are very hard to identify unless you are an expert.

If you are not an expert then DO NOT eat any fungi that you find in the wild.

If you mean "shrooms" as slang for hallucinogenic mushrooms, they are intoxicating, but not poisonous when taken within reasonable doses. The chances of accidental overdose resulting in death are low since they taste unpleasant, may induce vomiting, and it would take over 7 pounds to be fatal.

If you mean "shrooms" as short for mushrooms in general, then it depends on the species. Most are indeed poisonous.

It depends on the mushroom you are talking about. Amanita muscaria, for instance, contains ibotenic acid, which can cause death.

Yes. Most of the mushrooms are poisonous. Only few are not poisonous. Delicacies are prepared from the mushrooms, that are edible.

What are possible safety concerns with magic mushrooms?

Although magic mushrooms (mushrooms containing psilocybin and related compounds) are not generally dangerous on their own, several safety issues arise from magic mushroom use.Firstly, if the mushrooms are wild-picked, one may have mistaken poisonous mushrooms for magic mushrooms. If the mushrooms are bought off the street, the dealer may have simply soaked store-bought mushrooms in another hallucinogen (or the mushrooms may be a poisonous species). Therefore, it is essential to know exactly what mushroom you are taking.Even if one takes genuine magic mushrooms, it is important to be with someone else and in a safe environment. Accidents or self-harm may result if one is not properly prepared for the mushroom experience. Those with mental health issues or a family history of such issues should not engage in magic mushroom use, as magic mushrooms may precipitate or exacerbate mental health problems. Finally, magic mushrooms are illegal in most places and using them could result in severe legal consequences.
