i think it has the power equivalent to about 20 tank shots
The Russian Borodino class battleships during the battle of Tsushima in 1905 had: Four 12" guns, Twelve 6" guns, Twenty 75mm guns, and Twenty 47mm guns. The 12" main batteries were for engageing enemy battleships, the secondary 6" guns were for enemy cruisers, and the 75mm & 47mm guns were for fending off torpedo boats and torpedo boat destroyers.
Basically, a battleship is typified by large guns, and thick armor since the late 1800's. In World War 1 battleships also carried torpedoes and a variety of smaller guns, but they never got close enough to use them, and these were done away with.
their powerful ships and guns
The Yamato and Musashi were Yamato Class battleships that each had 18.1 inch naval guns as their main armament ~ see related link below to additional information .
Battleships move just like any other ship, but faster. Their advantage was the huge guns they carried and the armour they were protected with.
There were two , the Japanese battleships Yamato and Musashi which were the largest and most powerful of any battleships ever constructed .
Battleships have been taken out of service because the Navy thinks they cost too much to operate and are too big, old and clumsy for being in service. A lot of people don't get why the Navy would take battleships out of service. Over the years, they have been upgraded and are now equipped with weapons such as missiles. It was proven in 1991 that battleships still play a role in the Navy. Their 16-inch guns hammered Baghdad and other cities. They are also very powerful and would be able to take a lot of damage.
merely the use of words to describe the same object..

If you mean the metal armoured modern battleships, they have been around since about 1900

Prior to 1906, battleships are called pre-dreadnaughts; after 1906, they're called dreadnaughts, since HMS Dreadnaught was launched in 1906. Pre-Dreadnaughts, such as the Russian battleships (Borodino class) during the Battle of Tsushima in May 1905 consisted of four 12" main guns; twelve 6" guns; and twenty 75mm guns; plus torpedo tubes front and aft. After the Russian-Japanese War of 1904-1905; HMS Dreadnaught was launched with all 12" guns; later came 14", 15", the Iowa class 16" & Yamato class 18" guns.
1. Pre-Dreadnaught 12" gunned Russian Battleships at the Battle of Tsushima in 1905. 2. Dreadnaught 12"/13"/14" gunned US/British Battleships WWI. 3. Fast Battleships Iowa Class 16" guns WWII.
Yes.
no
The definition of a "Battleship" is "Gun and Armor." Remove the gun and you have an armored ship. Leave the guns and remove the armor and you have a cruiser. There are exceptions to every rule, but generally modern steel engine powered battleships carried 12" guns during the Russian-Japanese War of 1904-1905. Although (exceptions to the rule) some Russian battleships were armed with 10" guns. During WW1 battleships were armed with some exceptions, with 14" guns. World War II was 16" guns (again there were some exceptions; some had 14", some 15", and two had 18" guns). The warships called "Pocket Battleships" generally had 11" guns, and were closer to being Battlecruisers than anything else...but the words "Pocket Battleship" sounded more dangerous and sold more newspapers. US Large Cruisers in WWII (Alaska Class) carried 12" guns. US Heavy Cruisers in WWII carried 8" guns. US Light Cruisers in WWII carried 6" guns. Gun & Armor=Battleship (Same with a tank; Gun & Armor=Tank) Remove the gun and one has an "Armored Personnel Carrier"; leave the gun and remove the armor and you have a Self Propelled Gun (self propelled artillery). Combine the gun and armor and you have a tank.
