You may gain several pounds the first week. Make sure you excersice daily and keep lots of fruits and veggies on hand. It can be a wonderfull medicine so it is worth trying.

I've been on and off Depakote before with very little weight fluctuation, however with Seroquel I had not only a huge appetite that forced me to eat more, but I put on 20lbs in 2 weeks! Depakote will make you gain weight. watch out for your white cell count in your blood ,and damage to the liver. Over all I have been on Depakote for ten years and have gained 40 pounds after having brain surgery. I want to get off of it, but tried other medications, and they sucked.I get burning in my stomach and wish there was a way to diet , for everytime you take the pill it makes your stomach burn.
