Malaysian companies that export stuff to US may have to cut down on their production due to reduced demand from the US.
Hence these companies may not be able to sustain and pay the same number of people they employed till last year. So they may want to reduce their workforce to maintain their profit margins.

Not like i should be showing you this but here is something i put in my report. maybe this will help you understand the effect it had more... the outcome of the Roosevelt Recession had on the United states would be; employment regained at the end of 1941. Personal Income was almost back at what it was at in the year 1919. The farm population dropped 5%, but farm output was up 19% in 1939.
