Not very. Here's why.

-Though many of the people who submit to wiki have a large amount of knowledge, it still may not be completely accurate.

- people can edit and change the information in the articles- so even if there is a person of high knowledge, that could easily be changed into a not-so-reliable article.

- I haven't usually seen this happen- person writing the article is not very knowledgeable about the topic.

Wiki can be good for just a quick dash of info, but as far as research, reports, and other important purposes, I'd say it's a no-go.

What is a reliable website for information on the film Battle Los Angeles?

The most reliable web source that I know of for information on this film (other than Wikipedia) is Battle: Los Angeles Wiki. It was created through a website called Wikia in which you can "discover, share, and add your knowledge!" It's basically a website where you can contribute to and create a "Wiki", or online encyclopedia, for anything you want. The website is very reliable and very interesting. It is also very well organized.

Should you trust a wiki for Academic Research?

Since wikis are free content there is a possibility that they contain misleading, biased, or otherwise false information. Citing a wiki as a source for academic information is often frowned upon for this reason. Also since information on a page can be changed and reworded there is no guarantee that the information used will exist later for either your or another persons use. A wiki can however be a good place to start to find information for academic research. Most wikis including wikipedia push to have information cited at the bottom of the page. You can therefore find the information you need on a wiki and then find the original source. This allows you to not only verify the information given to make sure it came from someplace reliable but it also gives you a book or some other publication that contains more information on the subject you are researching. These resources can then be cited in academic papers unlike a wiki. However it is imperative that you actually find the copy of the source material and determine 1)That it is a reliable source such as a paper in a medical journal or a book from someone who is an authority on the subject, and 2) That the statement attributed to this work in this wiki is actually contained in this reliable source.

Is WikiAnswers and wikipedia reliable sites for information?

No I'm sorry but wiki answers and Wikipedia are not reliable sources to find information. If you get information off of here its wrong. Wait so if all information is wrong, that means this information is wrong but its right but if it wrong it can't be true. I don't know just dont use this site...............--I would have to disagree, but i also have to agree, as some of the information on wikipedia and wikianswers is true, but some contributors tend to "sabotage" answers. Thus, making it both reliable and unreliable.

Is academic jobs wiki reliable?

Like many unknown sources, academic wiki is a compilation of information from unknown 3rd party sources. Since we don't know the source directly, the information should be taken with a grain of salt aka be weary. Nonetheless, the site still offers great advice.
