Like any car or truck, if properly maintained, a Land Cruiser will last you many good years. I've been driving a 93' around for about four years and i recently rolled over on 240,000 miles with no major problems. The previous owner took great care of the car and it really shows. I've only had to replace common components such as breaks, spark plugs and belts. The engine is solid. Although I do have an oil leak. The AC quit a couple of years ago but the electric windows work well in the summer ;).
If you're looking to buy one make sure to inquire about the car's history. LC's are great off-road machines, and it is possible that they've been driven hard by previous owners. Also, always check the underside of the car to see if there's any rust or peculiar damage.
Land cruiser
The Land Cruiser is possibly the most important vehicle ever built. They are very sturdy and engineered for reliabilty and toughness. They are used as primary rugged transportation in many third world countries. When you see the venerable Land Rover (English), you see what the tourist expects to ride in. In the background, providing the reliable transportation, you see the Land Cruiser, conquering the rugged terrain, and rescuing the Mange Mowers when they get in trouble. There's just something about a Land Cruiser...
