There are typically 5 different ports for Ethernet cords on routers, but the one that receives the Internet connection is typically colored differently and spaced away from the rest.
Once you’re supplying internet connection to your router, you’ll need to go in and configure your settings. You can do this by opening a new browser and typing the router’s gateway IP address in the address bar. This is typically “http://192.168.1.1” but the last digit could be different. In these settings, you can configure things like security, port forwarding, your network’s name, etc.
Always remember that there are help resources and tutorials available online for your router in the case that something goes wrong. Simply navigate to the manufacturer’s website and check the Support links.
