- If you are 11 and under and are being punished by your parents by a spanking then a spanking should only occur as a last resort when nothing else works. However, spanking any child on a bare bottom or with any object such as a bath brush is not acceptable. A spanking over jeans is acceptable and only by a parents hand, but taking away a child's privileges to see their friends or do something they enjoy often works far better. Teens are too old to be spanked so they should have their privileges taken away because they have not earned the right to have them if they have been disrespectful to parents or are not following house rules.
