Muslims should live their life in accordance with the teachings of the Quraan and the teachings of the Holy Prophet (may peace and the blessings of Allah be on him). In short, you should always keep in mind that Allah is watching you and that you are accountable for your deeds. The Holy Prophet's (may peace and the blessings of Allah be on him) last sermon also tells us how a Muslim should live his life. To read the last sermon, please click on the below link.

Muslims with homosexual tendencies (i.e. gay Muslims ) should live their lives as any other Muslims should. Having tendencies and desires themselves aren't considered a sin, as we generally don't have control over our feelings. Actions are another matter but it is for God to judge ultimately. Islamic belief says there are things that are encouraged whilst other things are discouraged or even forbidden. Our life on this earth is considered to be a test by God so therefore all Muslims are encouraged to practice restraint and discipline in this life, this is especially true in all matters of personal wants and desires (inc. sexual ones). Restrictions also apply to heterosexual people, for example, no sex outside marriage, segregation of opposite sex etc.
Although there is an attitude amongst some Muslims that homosexuality (i.e. same sex attractions) doesn't exist, in particular amongst other Muslims, it certainly doesn't make it the case in reality. To say it doesn't happen is a naive way to look at things because at the end of the day Muslims are human beings therefore have cravings, desires, weaknesses just as anyone else.
When one is considering the Islamic stance on homosexual attractions it is worth taking the following points into account;
In relation to the afterlife, the Islamic belief is that an aspect of the next life will be for the fulfillment of our desires, so what we "miss out" on in this life will be recompensed in the hereafter with what we desire or something greater beyond what we could even perceive in this life.

Another Viewpoint
Homosexuality is prohibited because it is considered to be an assault on the humanity of a person, harmful to the family unit, and a clash with the aims of the Lawgiver, one of which is the establishment of sexual instincts between males and females so as to encourage the institution of marriage.
For homosexuality is considered one of the major sins in Islam
AnswerI think that if a Muslim gay, follows Islam and marries a woman and has children and never goes with a man, he will have a greater reward than your average straight Muslim on the day of Judgement, because God swt tested him through that desire and he resisted it and feared Allah swt instead of following his "lusts". (Same applies for females too).
Look for the story of Prophet Yusuf (Joseph) in the Qur'an and in the stories of the hadith. You'll learn that he resisted commiting adultery. He was very much inclined to go with Zuleika, the wife of his Master Al-Aziz (Potiphar), when she tried to seduce him but the only thing that prevented him was that he feared Allah (swt) and look how Allah (swt) raised his rank and honour amongst people in this life and in the hereafter.
Most muslims nowadays don't truly live like a muslim should.
With my limited knowledge :
1. When a muslim wakes up, the first thing he should remember is Allah, for letting him live another day so that he could do more good deeds, help others, learn new things, etc.
2. It is compulsory to pray 5 times a day. Praying shows submission to Allah. There are a lot of other prayers which are not compulsory, but if a muslim does it, he will be loved by Allah more.
3. Every time before a muslim starts doing anything, he should set his intention right.
Eg. I do this for Allah, not for other people to praise me.
I teach others this so that they could benefit from it, not to show off my knowledge and skills.
4. A muslim should live in moderation in this world, i.e. eating in moderation, speaking modestly, strive for the success in this world and in the Hereafter equally, etc.
5. When faced with a problem, a muslim always submit himself to Allah because Allah is the One who gives him the problem, therefore Allah also has the Power to take him out of it. Believing this, he would do something within his effort to solve it.
6. When Allah bless him with good results in exam, or luxuries, a muslim will say to himself that all of these come from Allah and that he owns nothing of it. He will say Alhamdulillah, which means 'All praises to Allah' for giving him things even though he is just a slave of Allah.
How musims live.. Basically they would look at their ultimate example from their Prophet Muhammad SAW and his families and his companions.
Wallahualam.
A Muslim should get up one hour before the break of dawn and offer Tahajjad Prayer (NOT Obligatory)
2. He should offer Fajr - Morning Prayer preferably in the Mosque.
3. He should recite a part of the holy Qur'an and try to understand the message given to him by Almighty Allah.
4. Get ready for his daily business, service or any other lawful activity to earn livelihood for him and his family.
5. Offer his Zuhr, Asar and Evening Prayers.
6. During his day time he should:
a: Speak truth
b: Discharge his duties honestly, efficiently and diligently.
c: He should be kind, helpful and sacrificing to all humans irrespective of their caste, creed or color.
d: He must be fair and square in his dealings.
e: He must remember Almighty God all the while and act according to the teachings of Islam.
f. After offering Isha Prayer, he should go to bed.
7. He must rear up his kids on Halal livelihood.
8. He must be kind and polite to his wife and all his poor relatives.
9. He must be loving and caring to his neighbours and friends.
10. He should not indulge in any activity that may earn him the displeasure of Almighty God.
11. He should never indulge in any activity that brings a bad name to Islam and the Muslims.
