How should a German Shepherd be cared for?

German Shepherds are generally not good first dogs. They have a tendency to test owners to see what they can get away with and to become destructive through boredom. They require a confident and fair owner who enjoys daily training sessions and lots of activity. Compared to the average dog, German Shepherds need more exercise, both physically and mentally. Expect to give them at least three workouts per day of at least 15 minutes each where you get the dog running hard. Expect to enroll them in obedience school as puppies and to continue their training throughout their lives. Consider competition sports with your GSD to keep them positively occupied. GSDs with too little to occupy them quickly become destructive through boredom. Expect to give daily grooming for their thick double coats. During semi-annual shedding periods, called "blowing coat," expect to deal with a LOT of loose hair and even more grooming. Special trimming by a professional groomer is not necessary.

A GSD, as with any breed of dog, pants or sweats through its mouth to keep cool.

All you need to do is make sure he/she has some shade for shelter.

In addition, give plenty of clean water to help it fight the heat.

You don't really have to do much as she will keep herself clean, just provide a clean blankets, as she will get blood on them, don't leave unattended in the garden, and walk her on a lead.
