For most mosques, you remove your shoes before entering. This is because Islamic prayer involves placing the hands and forehead on the floor. Removing the shoes helps to keep the floor clean.
You must cleanse yourself so that you are pure before Allah. You must wash your hands up to your elbows, wash your hair, clean your ears, wash from your ankles up to your knees.
You must not wear any clothes that have urine or fecies stains --- your clothes must be clean, as you are appearing before Allah.
It is then, that you can attend the Mosque.

They say:يا الله!فتح لي أبواب رحمتك Which means O Allah! Open for me the doors of your Mercy.
While our way to the mosque, a Muslim must realise that he is going to stand in person before Almighty Allah. We should put our right foot first into the mosque and pray to Allah in these words: Translation: "O my Allah, open the doors of Your Mercy and blessings upon me. " We should offer Two Rakat Nafl, and sit respectfully, wait for the Imam, and remember Allah Karim. We should offer our prayer behind the Imam. No loud talking. No noise. No discussion, no disturbance.
When a person goes to a musjid, he should enter with his right foot and
say Du`a On Entering Musjid
ALLAHUM-MAFTAHLI ABWABA RAMATIK.
O Allah! Open for me the door of your Mercy.
When a person is inside the musjid, he should remember that he is in the house of Allah SWT, which must be given its due respect. Therefore, he should sit quietly and keep himself busy in salaah, remembrance of Allah I and recitation of the Qur'an. He should avoid raising his voice, indulging in vain talk or argument with others. According to a Hadith, a person who sits in the musjid waiting for the next salaah, is like the one who is performing the salaah.
While leaving the musjid, one should take out the left foot first and say
Du`a For Exiting Musjid:
ALLAHUMMA INNI AS'ALUKA MIN FADLIKA WA RAHMATIK.
O Allah! I beg Thee of Thy bounty, favour & your Mercy.

The first mosque was built in Quba. This is a place near Madina and Prophet Mohammed (Peace be upon him) where prophet made a brief halt before entering the city of Madina during Migration (Hijrah). Later, a mosque was constructed and was called as Masjid Quba.
Removing shoes before entering a house is usually a cultural rather than a religious tradition. It is common to many Eastern countries, as well as Scandinavia. However, some religions require removing shoes before entering a house of worship or a temple. Muslims remove their shoes before entering a mosque, Hindus remove shoes before entering a temple, and Sikhs remove shoes before entering a gurudwara.

They don't. The only requirement in Judaism to wash the feet before worship, is for the Kohanim in the Holy Temple (which is no longer standing). See Exodus ch.30. It is Muslims who wash their feet before entering a mosque.
Simply to show respect and modesty
Water outside of mosques has to do with cleansing yourself before prayer. I am not an expert, nor a Muslim, but I do know that there are cleansing rituals to be done prior to entering a mosque to pray.
Muslims do not go to church. They go to mosque. They don't have to do anything before they go to a mosque.
they are not ... if u mean why do Muslims take their shoes off before entering the mosque ( masjid ) then that's just because a mosque is the house of god and it should be respected and kept clean .. so u shouldn't walk with ur shoes on into the mosque to bcoz u step on all sorts of stuff in the street and u shouldn't drag them into the mosque and it's also a sign of respect to the place..and Allah knows best
Every mosque has a place where worshippers may ritually cleanse themselves before entering to pray. they have to be clean before facing Allah.
I would go talk with the Imam of a local mosque. Call for their policy regarding someone other than Muslim entering the Mosque.
There was a mosque near the World Trade Center before the 9-11 attack. It was not actually a part of the Center.
