Just install MS SyncToy, set up the folders you want synched, and see if it works for you. If it doesn't meet your needs, uninstall it.
That said, I've used MS SyncToy extensively, and it works very well.
Another program you might consider is AllWay Sync. It's a paid program, but if you've got a lot of data to sync, it's well worth the price. I've used it in the past to sync entire hard drives to backup drives (the poor-man's method of data backup), and it's worked very well. It'll monitor when a file is changed, and automatically sync it, so it's pretty much set-it-and-forget-it.

Microsoft Update is a Web site that can scan a single computer and indicate missing/needed updates and install them as a group, as long as the computer is connected to the Internet and can reach the Microsoft Update Web site. MBSA allows multiple computers to be scanned for missing/needed updates at one time by remote scan, whether or not the target computers can access the Internet and the Microsoft Update web site. Today Microsoft produces a range of software for Apple's Macintosh computers and Apple produces software for computers running Microsoft's Windows operating system. There has been a friendly rivalry between the two companies for many years. In their early days Microsoft was employed by Apple to produce software for them. This relationship evolved and Microsoft licensed some aspects of the Macintosh operating system from Apple to use in their own version which they called Windows. Microsoft started using more of Apple's ideas than they had been allowed to by the licensing deal and they also "acquired" some of the QuickTime programming code which they used in their own media player. This resulted in a long running legal dispute between the two companies. In general Microsoft has taken more from Apple than Apple has taken from Microsoft.

There are numerous options for moving files between computers such as: saving them directly to the other computer over a network, by attaching them to an email, by saving them to a USB/Flash Drive or burning onto a CD. Providing the file conforms to a standard format then there should be no problem reading files from Microsoft software on an Apple computer. Microsoft produces a range of software for Apple's Mac computers, such as Word and Excel, but Apple's own Text Edit and Pages software can handle most Word files.
There are quite a few differences between a compact computer and other computers. Compact computers are easier to take with you.
