Well, the key is really in the bushings. Once they start to catch fire and talk to you, you know you're in trouble. Because, well, you're not Moses. You really have to keep an eye on the bushings and replace them before they catch fire.
I'm not sure about ball joints. Are you sure you mean the Toyota Corolla?
Next to its broken Cv joints
It does have CV joints but, it is best to just swap out the complete axle assembly than to replace only the CV joint. You will spend much time and almost as much money trying to replace the CV joint than to just purchase a reconditioned axle assembly and swap it.
There are two methods of changing control arm bushings. One method involves removing the damaged bushing arms and pressing out the bad units. When doing so it may be best to replace the bushings of both sides of the car. Since the control arm has been removed anyway and if the vehicle is of mileage it also may be the best opportunity to replace the ball joints. The second method would be purchasing a complete control arm assembly with new bushings and ball joints already installed.

How do you replace your front ball joints on a Lincoln
The average cost to replace CV joints is approximately $300. It is more inexpensive and less time consuming to replace both CV joints.
1-2 hours for labor + parts + alignment (not always needed but recommended after such repair).
I had this problem on my 2000. I lubed all the fittings, especially upper and lower ball joints and the noise went away. Chevy wants you to lube every oil change. If you still hear the noise you'll have to replace. Check the Anti-Sway Bar bushings and where they attach to the A-Arm.
I have the same problem and the consensus is that it is the lower ball joints. Try to get grease into the lower ball joint (with a pointed applicator) or replace them.
