"How television isolate people?"

First of all the question should be:

DOES television isolate people?

By phrasing the question, HOW television isolates people, starts you off on a negative and biased view and the question is not grammatically correct.

So, does television isolate people? For another topic consider if the Internet isolates people. The answer is a parallel to the TV question.

Like any other technology it depends on how it is used. If you sit there like a coach potato, yes, it can isolate you. Your world will consist of whatever comes on the tube. With no contact, your values and beliefs maybe confusing, biased or nonsensical using the T.V. as your guide in life.

In the old days, few had a T.V. because they were very expensive. If you didn't stand before a store window selling appliances to watch T.V., you would have to depend on the generosity of a neighbor to invite you over and watch what they wanted to view on their T.V..

Today, through economies of scale manufacturing and competitive marketing through capitalism, the price of a T.V. came down so anyone can aford a T.V.. I don't know of a any person in the united States who does not have at least one T.V.. Even the most "impoverished" in the U.S. have at least one T.V.and typically more than one color T.V. that is a flat screen.

On the one hand, T.V. can isolate people. These folks can hide away and become coach potatoes. Perhaps this is their inclination whether they have a T.V. or not? It might just be their personality to be reserved, shy and private. Having a T.V. may increase isolation in those situations. By only viewing the T.V. for entertainment or news may give you a skewed or inaccurate view of the world and stunt your ability to interact properly with people in real life.

There is a bias in the mainstream news media. Viewing biased news that condones violent and destructive protests as was done in Wisconsin by union protesters, in May of 2011, could give you the false impression that this is just another harmless "free speech" rally. The truth is that the damage done to Wisconsin, was over 8 million dollars by these protesters! This was not highlighted in the liberal news media. Approximately $7,819,665 was needed to repair and restore the marble and building that was deliberately damaged, $161,050 was needed for lawn repair, $458,406 was needed for capital police to control the crowd, $3,034,088 was needed to call in other state law enforcement agencies for crowd and damage control, 3,904,919 was needed by local law enforcement and $4,222,252 was needed for round the clock food for law enforcement on duty. Over time was also included in the totals for overtime and cleanup after the crowd left.

While all of us have the right free speech and peaceful assembly this was not happening in Wisconsin by the protesters. They also did not have the right to destroy public and private property while protesting. The damage was not mentioned in the biased news media and should have been. The state of Wisconsin was already in debt and didn't need this additional expense that Wisconsin taxpayers will have to support through higher taxes.

The entertainment shows often show no boundaries in morality. If you constantly view that, after awhile you will incorporate that as your morality if you are "isolated". That is unhealthy for people. This single source could enslave you to these harmful views and have a negative impact on your real life. For example, viewing crime shows where people get away with crime, might tempt you to believe that you can too! Seeing how Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan lead their lives or watching Jersey Shore, Gossip Girls or Revenge could easily skew your world and serve as a negative influence on you.

I would never recommend using T.V. as your only connection to the world. There are some good shows on T.V. such as the History Channel, Little House on the Prairie for kids and Myth Busters for kids, to name a few. My suggestion is to be discriminating on what you watch on T.V. and never lose your connection to real people in the real world. Sometimes we all need time away from people. Reading or watching a show on T.V. is fine but it should not become your replacement for interacting with the real world.
