It didn't change. Nothing changed the Cold War until the Berlin Wall came down in 1989.
Berlin Blockade was an international diplomatic crisis after the end of WW II. Soviet Union blocked road, railway and canal access to allied controlled part of Berlin. This led to a prolonged crisis during which allied forces airlifted supplies to the blockaded part. This was the first international crisis of the Cold War and practically spelled the onset of Cold War era. It was followed by major conflicts like Korean War and Vietnam War.
some say the Truman Doctrine of 1947 was the beginning. Still others say the 1948 Berlin blockaed and airlift signaled the start. 1947-1948
The Berlin Crisis (or, Berlin Blockade) of 1948-1949 was resolved through a combination of two related factors. The first was Allied resourcefulness and determination, with a nearly miraculous effort being made to keep West Berlin supplied through many months of land-access isolation. The second was the (very realistic and otherwise sensible) willingness of the Soviet Union to concede defeat in its bid for control of West Berlin.
The Berlin Blockade was the Soviet Union's attempt to bring all of Berlin under communist control. They closed the roads, rail lines and water routes into Berlin to attempt to starve out the population. They didn't count on the Allies supplying Berlin by air.
The Berlin Blockade of 1948-1949 and the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1961 contributed to the Cold War in one similar way: both served as 'close-calls' for worldwide conflict between democratic and communist nations. A difference between the two events, however, is found in what followed each: the Berlin Blockade was followed by increased tensions between the world's super-powers, while the Cuban Missile Crisis was followed (if only temporarily) by decreased tensions.
