The mantlet of the Tiger I was 110 millimeters thick. Note that the tank did not have a sloped or slanted glacis plate, and thus the effectiveness of the armor was not maximized. The Tiger II had 180 millimeter armor, but this was sloped to increase its effectiveness and afford better protection. Use the links below to learn more.

How thick was the pershing tanks armor?

The M26 Pershing tank had armor 102 mm thick on the front of the hull, and 76 mm thick on the sides of the hull. The turret was protected by 102 mm of armor (the same as the hull), while the mantlet (gun shield) for the 90 mm main gun was up to 114 mm thick. The M26 Pershing was one of the only Allied tanks during WWII with thick enough armor to take a direct hit from the German 8.8 cm anti-tank gun and survive.

Are tanks bullet proof?

Only to a certain amount but it does Varies on what Tank it is, How much Armor it has got and where. All Tanks should usually take normal gun bullets but when it omes to tcank shells, it only takes a certain bullet depending on the tank to destroy another tank. e.g. During WW2, The Soviets built the IS-1 Tank to defeat the German Panther and Tiger Tank, which the IS-1 had a 122mm, It was just capable to destroy the German Tiger Tank but required few direct blank shot hits due it's 120mm Armor. So as a response to the IS-1, The Germans brought out the King Tiger Tank which it had at best of 180MM of Armor. The King Tiger had 88mm Highly Explosive Gun. So Tanks are only bullet proof if the ammo hitting the tank doesn't damage or most importantly penetrate the Tank Armor.

What German tanks was the most effective in World War 2 and why?

Their are 3 main German tanks which was mostly effective and they are: Panzer IV, V and Tiger I. The Panzer IV was effective because; It only cost 108,000 reichmarks to build and these were massively produce. It was equipped with a 7.5mm KwK 40 main gun and 3 7.92mm Machine guns. Also, it had an armor with a size of 10-80mm's thick. These tanks were used on the Western, Eastern and African front. It's well known of the Western front in 1939-1941 during many military encounters e.g. Invasion of Poland and Battle of France. The Panzer V aka Panther tank is very popular and commonly used in the Wehrmacht and the Waffen SS Armies because, During the final few years of war, the Panther tank was very effectively in destroying enemy tanks and getting off quickly before other Tank, Anti Tanks etc.. could react. This was important, especially whiles Germany was retreat. This tank was equipped with a 7.5mm KwK 42 main gun with 2 7.92mm MG42s with an Armor which is 15mm-120mm thick. This tanks is known for it's actions during the Battle of the Bulge, 471 of these tanks were deployed along with 125 Tiger Is and King Tiger tanks. In total it's known that the 471 Panther tanks destroyed other 500 American Sherman tanks. One of these tanks was commanded by Ernst Barkmann, who single handed destroyed 80 tanks. The Tiger I was a very fearful tank, this was because that the Tiger I was the dominate tank in the late years of war on the Eastern front. These tanks were mainly deployed for 2 reasons, 1. Maintain defense and 2. To break through any Enemy fortifications. This tank was equipped with a 8.8mm KwK26 L/56 main gun and 2x 7.92mm MG42 guns. It had an Armor which was 25mm-120mm's thick. This tank is mostly known for it actions during it's. actions in the African campaign During this time, It many battles like the Battles of El-Alamen, it was very good at holding off Allied attacks and destroyed many allies resources and equipment.

What weapons did the axis use?

Except for the tip of the spear, which was a few battalions of the high tech Germans with advanced weaponry, the Axis still used Bolt-Action rifles from WW1 and still rode horses. And yes they had tanks, but the armor was only an inch thick and was useless against the Allies better tanks. And the Germans "Royal Tiger" tank (the best they had) was so complicated that it was only used for stationary, and they only made about 200 of them.
