You may clean any animals' minor cut in the same way you would clean a humans' minor cut. Hydrogen Peroxide to clean/sterilize and you may want to use a triple antibiotic such as neosporine or like ointment/cream to treat and fight infection. I am not an expert or a vet I am just a professional dog trainer. I personally believe peroxide is ok but if you let a dog lick a spot where you put neosporine it can have damaging affects on the liver. Pleae ask your vet! ----
Well if the cut is deep or infected please consult a veteranarian if not here is how:
1. clean the wound with wert towel or peroxide
2. dress the wound with neosporin or another antiboitic cream
3. ther is really no way to apply a bandaid or patch just leave it alone but keep an eye on the dog to make sure he does not lick it that can upset its stomach
4. or you could just simply let the wound heal on its own the dog will lick it but dogs have a special germ in their saliva that speeds up the healing process of the wound , but again do watch the cut for signs of infection then you may want to consult a veterinarian
There is actually very little you can do. Clean is with a damp cloth or paper towel and make sure it stays clean throughout the entire healing process. Your dog will heal on its own pretty quickly.
A bit more:
If the cut is serious, or pretty large, you need to take it to a vet. But if it's a small, shallow cut, you can clean it with peroxide, then apply an antibiotic cream (the kind you would use on a person). This needs to be done once or twice a day until the cut begins to heal.
You really need to take your dog to your Veterinarian. Is the cut large or small? Is it deep or shallow. What caused it? The main thing you can do is to clean the wound out thoroughly with a disinfectant soap, rinse well and pat dry. Apply an ointment such as Neosporin or something else that is a good disinfectant. Don't use hydrogen peroxide as it tends to damage the skin itself. This will keep the wound clean until you can get your dog to your Veterinarian to have it properly taken care of. Don't bandage it at this point, leave that diagnosis up to the Vet. You can cause more problems by covering up the wound instead of leaving it open, just depends, that is why you must go to your Veterinarian.
If it has gone through the layers of skin, down to muscle, you should take the dog into the vet for stitches so it will heal quickly without an infection.
go straight away to the hospital , put water, then put soft material around it.
No! Never use bleach on an animal! Clean the cut with soap and water. If it is bad, take her to the vet.
If you want to save a dog after a dog attack and a vet is not available, you need to make sure to clean all of his cut very well. You need to take him into the vet as soon as possible.
Clean Cut was created in 1984-01.
T.I. does not have any tattoos. He is clean cut. He wears dog tags for his partner, Philant and daughter that died.
Only if the dog is sick like, has rabies. My dog always likes my cuts. it is the way dogs would help other dogs in there pack, it helps clean the wound.
You will need to cut it yourself, cut about 2 inches from the belly with clean scissors and it will fall off just like a real baby.
You can stop the bleeding with a styptic pencil, also called a hemostatic pencil, which you can get at a drugstore. If the cut is deep, take your dog to a vet.
worm in a cut are magets. flys have layed eggs in the cut and are hatching. Take the dog to the vet. If you can't do that clean the cut with soap and water, apply neosporin. and then bandage the cut. Keep the bandage dry. and change every day or more often if needed. If the cut is large it will need stitches. If you can't aford help ask the local humane society if they can help you.
WELL TAKE IT TO A DOG PARLOUR AND THEY WILL CUT THE DOG'S FUR!
If it is still bleeding, you can apply mild pressure (like you would on yourself) until the bleeding stops. Keep it clean with saline or clean tap water (room temperature, preferably) and watch it for the next 3-5 days. It should heal over just find on its own. If the cut becomes very swollen, red, hot to the touch, painful, oozes any fluids or develops a bad odor, you need to take your dog to the vet for treatment - these are all signs of an infected cut.
I wouldn't let him lick it, just in case. Some say that a dog's mouth is clean and its saliva has anti-bacterial qualities, but that is not strictly true. A dog that constantly licks at an open wound prevents it from healing over, and will likely become infected. It is highly recommended to take your dog to the vet immediately, as the vet can prescribe medicine that will help keep infection at bay.
yes it does, that is why you often see them licking their wounds.e.g if your dog cut his paw, by the time you have got all your first aid supplies, our dog would of licked it clean and it would be starting to heal.
