Most just fit together tightly and will come apart with a little pulling and wiggling. Their could be paint of corrosion sticking them together in which case you may have to use a penetrating oil/solvent on the seam and hope for the best. Its possible that if its very very old, it was soldered in place - in which case it will have to be heated with a torch at the seam (better left to a professional). Worst case, saw it apart and repair with a coupler.
You have to remove the top and side covers on the steering wheel column, remove I think 4 screws-bolts, disconnect the wire connection, and remove the old switch.
Remove the electrical connector from the old resistor. Remove the screws holding the resistor in place. Remove the old resistor. Put in the new one and screw in the screws. Attach the electrical connector.

many old cars are very similar, you need to remove the bezel screws first then loosen the three slotted screws on the retaining ring. turn the retaining ring a little to the end of the screw slot so you can remove it. Unplug the three prong plug and remove the light. ( if the retaining ring is old you may have to remove it if it will not turn)

depending on model the 94-98-99 old body you have to release late assembly on the side and the remove panel to then remove both screws that hold it to the door and pull out. on the 00 up you can just remove panel and remove screws that hold it to the door.
