Verify that the gearcase is full of lubricant and the various linkages are properly lubricated. Make sure you have new gas in the tank. Use fuel without ethanol if it is available in your area.
Never use ether based "starting fluid" in a two stroke engine. It will strip away the engine lubricant before it ignites.
