The question doesn't disclose the questioners legal status - however - if the questioner is a convicted felon - it will not/can not happen. Regardless of what state you reside in it is a violation of FEDERAL Law (USC, Title 18) for a convicted felon to ever own or possess firearms or ammuntion.

It makes no difference which state you reside in. It is a FEDERAL felony offense for a convicted felon to ever own or possess a firearm. The United States Code, in some cases, makes the penalty for illegal possession of a firearm a mandatory mimimumfifteen (15) years in prison. Title 18 U.S.C. sec 924(e)(1).
