The fuel filter is located under the main seat and next to the left hand frame rail. To get to the filter, remove the seats. Once the seats are removed, there is a plastic cover that is held on to the rear gas tank bracket and the plastic filler panel for the rear fender. This is held on by 3 plastic push tab retainers. They have a center pin that must be pushed up from underneath to release them. Once the plastic cover is released, it can be moved to reveal the gas filter. The gas filter is mounted in a rubber sleeve that has two mounting tabs. A rubber hose mounts to the inlet and outlet nipples of the filter. Use a pliers to release the spring clamps and slide them down from the filter. Before removing the filter, rotate the gas tank valve to off to prevent draining the tank completely. Have some spare rags available to catch the residual gas out of the gas tank to filter line. Remove the filter by pulling up and releasing the rubber sleeve from the mounts, and then both hoses. The filter itself will then slide out of the rubber retaining sleeve. The filter is plastic with a metal end cap.
