Disconnect the battery, remove the nut holding the positive cable on the starter and the wire that engages the seleniod. Remove the two bolts that hold the starter to the bell housing. buy a new starter ( compare the two units to make sure they are the same. put it together the reverse of disassembly. P.S. BUY the book, it gives you step by step procedure and of course you will need a reasonable set of tools. Usually a standard set of tools will work unless you need an extra long 3/8 extension to get the bolts out. Tools can cost you as much or more than the part. However you will be able to use the tools over and over again. If you are asking this question I assume that you are either interested in doing the work your self or you just want to know what is envolved. Either way it is a rather physical job and you will most likely cut, scrape, and dirty your hands.
