I have a 1977 penny that can be picked up with a magnet and it is bright gold in color. The detail in the coin is much more detailed than that in a brand new penny. Definition is very, very high.

A magnet is made of 'Soft' Iron. A pin has steel (iron) in it. A match does NOT have iron in it.

A magnet has both a South pole and a North pole. The magnetic properties of a magnet come from the alignment of electrons inside of the magnet. The North pole of a magnet will repel another North pole, but attract a South pole, and vice versa.
There are two main/most common, types of magnet. One is permanent and the other is temporary. There could be more detailed classifications, but I do not know them ;)
