How do you remove a light switch on a 1972 Chevy?
Behind the dash, on the headlight switch itself, there is a "pin" that you have to push in in order to pull out the light knob. Feel under the dash, the pin is toward the back of the switch. When you push it in, with your other hand, move the light knob in and out. It will come out. Then, you can remove the nut, take the switch out from behind the dash.

Feel your way up the brake pedal. You will feel the switch where it rests against the pedal lever. Feel your way back along the switch and you will feel the bracket which hold it in position. Go up and feel the light bulbs..the warm one is the first loth switch,, the one that is still on is obviously the second light switch and the cold/regular temperature light bulb is the last switch that you didn't touch.

Turn switch A on and then wait for a couple minutes. Turn switch A off and switch B on. Go to the attic, one light bulb should be on, that's switch B. Now feel the light bulbs, one should still be warm from having been turned on and then off, that's switch A. The one that's off and cool is switch C.

First you turn on one of the switches and don't enter the room for sometime, till the light inside is heated up. Then switch that light off, and then turn the second one on and enter the room. The one heated up (feel by hand) is the first switch that was turned on, the one glowing is the second switch turned on and the remainder not hot nor light up is the third switch * WHY DOES IT MATTER IF YOU CANT OPEN THE DOOR??

( Disconnect the battery first) Feel behind the dash for the back of the switch, on the apposite that the wiring is you will feel a small spring-loaded button. The dome light switch on ALL ford trucks before, and some after 2000, is in the headlight switch. Simply turn the knob to the left, it should feel like, well, a switch. This is the same for my 76 pickup, and my 93. It is the same in my dads 89 f250, and was the same in his 97 f250. Note: when you turn the knob to the right, it dims the dash lights.
