That said, your best way to remove or reduce the appearance of scratches would be with some kind of leather balm, or saddle soap. There are a few specific products that I use for my shoes, whether they're Sperry's, dress shoes, or other casual leather shoes: Johnston & Murphy leather balm, Kiwi saddle soap, and/or L.L. Bean Boot protector. The oils in these products will moisten and rejuvenate the leather and make the scratches less noticeable.

They remove scratches off a car by first trying to buff them out. If that does not work, the scratches are sanded, they are then filled with filler, and sanded again. Next a primer is put over the scratches, and then paint to match the rest of the car.
