you need to remove the steering wheel, then the plastic dust cover on the column. then you have to compress the steering wheel lock plate and remove the snap ring. once this is done, remove the turn signal switch by taking out the 3 screws and removing the signal lever. then unscrew the hazard switch (if it has one just in front of and slightly below the ignition lock) pull the turn signal cam out far enough so you an access the ign cyl lock screw. remove the screw all the way out and the lock cyl will slide out. this will only work if your Jeep is equipped with the GM style steering column and ign. lock cyl.

you have to pull the steering wheel off. pull turn signal housing off. on top of ignition switch there are two bolts which are smooth on top so you have to take a punch and knock them loose. take them out

This may sound ridiculous... but force the the ignition switch until the detent "breaks" and you can turn the ignition switch without the key. The risk here is that you could possibly break the assembly that the ignition switch inserts into. If you can get the switch to rotate from the lock position one position clockwise, then you can release the switch from underneath the steering column and pull the switch out. The alternative is to have a locksmith get the ignition switch to rotate one position clockwise and then you can remove the switch and replace it with a new one from any auto parts store.
To pull the ignition switch on a 2002 Honda Rancher, first, ensure the vehicle is in a safe, off position.
