Repairing a fiberglass crack is important. For example if you find a fiberglass crack on your boat, then it is extremely important that you fix it before it gets more worse. Firstly, you need to inspect the type of damage so that you can bring a solution to it.

A common type of fiberglass crack you find is caused to simple stress. This can be avoided by grounding out the stress crack. In order to do that, it is important you pin point the location of the crack. Use a buffer in order to remove the good non cracked fiberglass so that you can find out the broken part.

You would probably need a 36 grit sand paper for this process. Attach a sand paper to a sander and start sandering the layer.

Happy to help you.

What is the way of working of a window glass repair system?

Typically a window glass repair system works by injecting a silicone resin in to a crack or chip. This is then smoothed over, left to dry and usually it will repair the damage completely and ensure that the glass is as strong as it was prior to the chip or crack occurring.

If there is only a small crack in my windshield can I do my own glass repair?

There is a do-it-yourself glass repair kit available at Glass Star America that uses a small vacuum tube to repair cracks in glass. Glass repair kits don't always work and if they're in your field of vision you want to be very careful about how you repair it. Your best bet is to take it to a repair shop.

When should a cracked windshield be replaced?

Depends on the size of the crack. If it is small enough a repair can be made that is fairly inexpensive and will keep the crack from getting any larger. If the crack obstructs the drivers vision you need to have the windshield replaced. Many glass repair shops will come to your home or place of business to make the repair and, depending on your deductible, most insurance companies will cove the repair free rather than pay for a new windshield. Your local glass repair shop will have all the details. Also, even if the crack extends clear across the windshield you can rest assured that under normal circumsantces the windshield is not going to fall out or leak. The glass is laminated over a pretty substantial rubber like layer to prevent shattering.
