It's easy!!! feed him every other day, clean his bowl once a week, DO NOT PUT ANOTHER BETTA FISH IN WITH HIM.

It's true not to put in another Betta in the same tank, I know that because I once had a male Betta and a female Betta in the same tank, and the male started to eat her! Yes, feed it once a day, and overfeeding your Betta is just like poisoning it. The easiest way to clean the tank is to put a filter in there, but make sure it has a guard-thing on it so your Betta won't swim in and die. I recommend giving your Betta a pinch of whatever you feed it. That should be good for the rest of the day. One more thing, Betta's like small areas. And they don't like to share a tank with any other kind of fish. If you're getting two Betta's, you don't have to get separate tanks. Get a tank or bowl with a divider between it so that the Betta's will only see each other and not attack. Have fun!!

Put in a reasonably comfortable fish bowl with pebble or rocks and a plant for the Betta to hide in and no other Betta fish in the tank or any mirrors around that the fish can see his/her reflection (There nickname is Siamese Fighting Fish). Then, have a food supply for your little fella and feed him 2-3 times a day (You can grab Betta bites, etc. at your local pet shop). And change your Betta's fish bowl when algae starts to grow on the glass.

To do so, you will need a little fish net, a strainer, a rough sponge, and a cup. How to change your Betta fish's bowl

First, fill a cup with your fishes water, and then gentle without hurting your Betta, scoop him up with your net, and then put him in the cup. Then, take the plant out of the bowl, and lay it aside on a paper towel or napkin. Afterwards, take a strainer, and pour the water into the strainer over a sink. Then, wash out the pebbles with nontoxic soap and water. Put your pebbles aside for now. After you did that, fill your fish bowl with warm water only for 5 seconds. Then, take your sponge, and dip it in the warm water, take the same nontoxic soap you used for the pebbles, and add a little to the sponge, and then scrub! Until the algae is gone. then, rinse thoroughly until the suds are gone. Afterwards, put your plastic plant in your fish bowl, and then, dump your pebbles into the fish bowl. After that has been completed, stick your index finger into the fish's cup water (without hitting the fish!) and run the sink to the same temperature as the cup water, and fill it all most all the way. Gently, pick your Betta fish up with your net and then place him into his nice, clean home! Note:

If you have clearifire for your fish bowl, use as directed.

Betta fish can be kept in a very small bowl, because in the wild there are all cramp't in a little puddle. You can add some fake plants and rocks to the bowl, too. You can put some pretty gravel or sand at the bottom. You can go to your petstore and ask for some betta pellets. Don't do what the label says. It's just so that you run out of food and have to go back and spend more money on them. Feed only about 7-10 pellets every day. You can give it a few every time after you eat. Clean the bowl about 12 times a year, depending on how dirty it gets. Hope this helps.

To keep Betta splendens properly you need a covered aquarium with a minimum of 2 gallons with a heater/thermostat set at 78 degrees Fahrenheit. You also need a cycled filter to remove/treat the toxins created by the fish living, breathing, and defecating in the water. It is also required to keep the fish healthy. Floating water plants are a plus as are gravel substrata and other planted water plants, rocks(waterlogged wood) and lights. Specialized Betta food can be purchased at most pet shops for regular daily feeding and you can also give live food for occasional treats. A partial water change of 50% is also recommended weekly.

to take care of a Betta fish properly you need at least a 1/2 gallon bowl or tank. I would prefer 1gallon though. Betta fish can survive in small areas, but you don't want them to just "survive" you want them to be happy. If your putting the Betta in a bowl make sure you clean the water once in every one to two weeks. If their in a tank with a filter change it once in a month. Bettas can go for 1 1/2 comfortably without food. Most bettas die of overfeeding than starvation. I feed my Betta twice a day, feeding him once in a day is okay too, but i wouldn't suggest 3 times a day or once in every two days. Their stomach is only as big as their eye and their eyes are really tiny. Never keep two bettas in the same tank, they will kill each other that's why their called Siamese fighting fish. Play with your Betta, put an interesting thing near him that will catch his eye. Bettas need exercise so put a mirror near him and let him exercise his fins as he flares at his reflection do this only for 5 min or he will get stressed out and too much stress can kill him. After a week your Betta will start to recognize you and love you! (bettas can live up to 3yrs with proper care)

Beta fish are fairly simple to care for. They do not require filters nor large spaces and do well in bowls and vases. Water changes are needed weekly if no filter is present. They make specifically prepared food pellet for Betas you can find in most LFS. While a heater is not required if room temperature is kept fairly warm, a constant temperature is required to help reduce stress. Link provided below fo further study.

Betas are great aditions to homes and are fairly easy to care for. Many companies sell fishbowls for betas. I have one in a Marina Half Moon Betta bowl with a small red shrimp. Select your fish bowl/tank. They do not require filters as they breath air, but you may want to buy a micro heater unless you live some place warm! do not put two male betas in the same tank as they will fight. Males and females may life together peacefully, but he will be constantly impressing her with his flashy gill puffing and may chase her around the tank which is exhausting and stressful for both of them. Two females will make good friends, however. It is a common thought that betas are coldwater fish, and yes, I mistakenly kept three betas in cold water (although they survived a surprising 2 years) but it probably was not too fun. They like live plants or plastic ones and may also like caves or other fun things.

Feed it every two or three days, and clean its tank at least once a week. Don't keep two betta fish in one tank or they will eat each other and fight.
