How was Shakespeares daily routine different from 20th century plays?

Well for starters there were traveling groups actors for entertainment as opposed to television and internet(which you seem to have discovered). There were things like the black plauge killing off a large percentage of the population. There was no constitutional government. If you wanted pineapple well you were out of luck, unless you had a tall ship and crew to sail and get some. Most importantly when people wanted answers they had to conduct experiments and talk to people, there was no WikiAnswers....

Well, it would certainly make a difference if the playwright of the last century were not also an actor at the same time. Much of Shakespeare's time must have been spent rehearsing and performing. Since theatre companies in his day would not have "runs" of plays, actors had to be constantly rehearsing new plays. A company would put on a different play every day, and every couple of weeks it would be a world premiere.

Shakespeare wrote an average of less than two plays a year over his career (38 plays in 23 years), although he probably also altered and refurbished other playwrights' work as well as writing his own material. Nevertheless, he did not need to spend an awful lot of time in writing.
