Japan needed space and raw materials to fuel its industrialization and they felt China and Korea were ripe for the picking. Germany had not won a war since France in1870 and they tried to break out of their losing streak: punitive reparations demanded by the winners, France and Britain, on Germany and injured national pride on Germany's part along with the concept of Lebensraum, living-space, IE raw materials again. Italy, well, never mind! Same as above, really. And lastly, nothing gets the home team working together like an outside enemy! Works even today, doesn't it?

World War 1 in many ways was a precursor to World War 2. There were many unsettled events that had taken place during and after world war 1 that led to the eventual outcome to world war 2. There were 4 main reasons as to why world war 1 led to world war 2, and they are, the treaty of Versailles, the league of nations, Hitlers appeasement encouraged aggression, and Hitler was an expansionist. First off, the treaty of Versailles was a no go. When the treaty of Versailles was made it had eventually solved nothing, and left the Germans and Hitlers aggression towards revenge look justified. Two, the league of nations was weak from the starting point. They had no muscle or power and had no separate army to deal with any of the broken rules to the treaty of Versailles, which left Hitler to break the treaty of Versailles's. The league of nations had also failed to achieve disarmament which eventually had led to the arms race. Three, appeasement had only encouraged Hitler into thinking that no one dare stop him, which had left Hitler to take things farther and farther. Four, Hitler was and expansionist. Many do believe that Hitler took the war into personal matters, and that Hitler had always intended to fight a war because of what happened during world war 1(which he took place in). Hitler felt that Germany and an unfair and unjustified lose and wanted a re- run of world war 1. That was a small run down of why world war 1 had led to world war 2.
