Lars Ulrich got the name after persuading a friend friend of his. His friend was not too sure what to call his new Metal Magazine he has a bunch names, and then when it boiled down to just to Metal Mania and Metallica, Lars persuaded him to go for Metal Mania so Lars can steel Metallica. Lars was not good with band names at all. He would make names up that did not sound as good. If he did not see this name that his friend had and did not persuade him to use Metal Magazine NOT Metallica.... THEN Lars maybe stuck when it comes to choosing an ideal name for his band.

How did metallica start?
Drummer Lars Ulrich started the band back in 1981. He than found now lead singer and rhytym guitar James Hetfield and they found bassist Ron Mcgoveny who quit and guitarist Dave Mustaine who got kicked out. The line-up was changed to Kirk Hammett, Cliff Burton (who died in a bus accident) and Lars and James. After Cliffs death Jason Newstead joined the band. He quit in 2003 and was replaced by permanent bassist Rob Trujillo
