What is Australian Gold Rush?
The Australian gold rush was, literally, the "rush for gold". It was triggered when Edward Hargraves discovered payable gold at Summerhill Creek, near Bathurst, in February 1851 and the government made the official announcement in May of that year. When people overseas heard about this they came in droves from all around the world to strike it rich.
