They could not take the city by assault so the story goes that they left a large wooden horse with soldiers inside and pretended to leave the siege. The Trojans dragged the horse inside their walls, and that night when the Trojans had a party to celebrate their success, the soldiers opened the gates and the Greek army stormed in.
