The economy of Southern US was absolutely dependent on slaves. Their predominantly agricultural economy would not have survived without the forced labor of slaves. This fact is well known about the south, but most fail to realize that even the Northern economy was dependent on slave labor for success. The cotton that the South produced was shipped by Northern ships and financed by northern insurance companies. The Cotton trade itself was the reason for shipbuilding , for shipping, banking, insurance, as well as early factories which transformed the cotton into textiles. (All of this took place in the North). The cotton was shipped overseas and textiles were also exported, making the ENTIRE nation's economy dependent of the foreign currency generated by the South's slave labor. So, in the grand scheme of things, both the Northern and Southern economies benefited greatly from forced labor.
Slave labor helped the southgrow cotton at a fast pace. This helped the economy in the south. Not just the south benefited from slaves but the north too. The south directly was helped by the slaves but indirectly helped the north too. See the more cotton that was made the more cloth produced from up north. This huge and successful era is called the industrial revolution.
The leading differences between the North and the South leading towards the US Civil War was their respective economies. The North was rapidly expanding manufacturing while the South was primarily an agricultural economy. Also, the Southern economy was driven by slaves. For the most part the North had few slaves at all.
The north differed from the south in that it's economy was based on industry, rather than agriculture.
The North has cattle, wheat, and corn. The North farmed and food to eat. Which the South had cotton, their cash crop.

She helped slaves escape from the south to the north.
The North had less use for slaves than the South did, and many Northern people helped slaves gain freedom.
It helped slaves in the South escape to the North for freedom.
After the civil War the 13th amendment (Emancipation Proclamation) was made and abolished slavery. The south had to reconstruct their economy, as the slaves were a major part of the South's economy at the time. Do not think that the North won and said "Too Bad!", the North helped in the reconstruction as well.
Because the south wanted slaves and the North did not want slaves.
Yes, they helped organize the Southern routes for the Underground Railroad and secretly helped slaves escape to freedom in the North.
Slavery was not critical to the success of the economy in the North.
Slaves weren't needed. The reasons slaves were used in the south they had large plantations that needed people to work, plant, pick cotton, and do other things. The economy between the south and the north was totally different.
the crops the north and south had planted.
The Southern economy was very dependent on slaves. Slaves did work for free, but ended up giving the Southerners a lot of money. The North didn't have the need for slaves as they didn't have as many plantations or land good for farming. Instead Northerners had industries that grew quicker than the South's crops. The South was forced to buy their manufactured goods from the Northern and sell their crops to the North for low prices. Many Southerners despised the uneven difference of the farming, which only helped increase tensions when the Civil War started up.
The North had many factories and producing clothes etc. The South was slaves working on plantations growing cash crops like tobacco and cotton.
