The story starts with George Crum, a chef employed at a resort in Saratoga Springs, New York on August 24, 1853, served a diner french fries he though was too thick. He got fed up with a customer who continued to send his fried potatoes back complaining that they were too thick and soggy, Crum decided to slice the potatoes so thin that they could not be eaten with a fork, but the plan backfired. The guest loved the fried paper thin potatoes. Soon many other diners ordered . the same thing. Ever since then people all over enjoy the potatoe chip as a salty snack.
