I think you mean who "fought" who in the civil war, and in answer to that, the South, called the Confederate states of America, and the north, The United States, fought each other.
To a degree yes, but the civil war ended slavery through out the United States why'll the southern states tried to become a new nation. Why'll other wars are about power, making a new country ,and religion. The civil war was a mix of recreating the United states laws and questioning how the united states could say all men are created equal and still have slavery attached to their laws.
