US involvement was tremendously helpful to the Triple Entente; it is likely that the outcome of the war would have been different had the US not gotten involved, either a victory by the Central Powers, or at least a stalemate, which would have resulted in a very different peace treaty than the Treaty of Versailles. This would have had huge historical consequences of various sorts.
Why the Pinckney's Treaty was important to the US is because it provided for mutual recognition of the border between US territory and spanish colonies.

US President "Teddy" Roosevelt helped end the Russo-Japanese War ( 1904-05). He led peace treaty negotiations in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, thus the treaty is called the Treaty of Portsmouth. For his efforts, Roosevelt won the Nobel Peace Prize. As an aside, it should be noted that in 1905 and earlier, Japanese Navy officers were receiving training at the US Naval Academy. This was significant then and also, sadly in the future.

The Treaty of Portsmouth formally ended the 1904-1905 Russo-Japanese War. It was signed on September 5, 1905[1] after negotiations at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard near Portsmouth, New Hampshire in the United States.
