What were uboats made for?
Uboats were made to attack and sink merchant ships carrying supplies to Great Britain. Germany knew if they managed to cut Britain's supplies off then they would be unable to continue the war. They did this by launching torpedos which blew holes in enemy ships under the waterline, causing them to take on water and sink. As the war progressed, more and more were built to combat military ships as well as merchant vessels. Hope this helps.

The Lusitania was a boat that sailed across the Atlantic Ocean from America to some other Allied Country in Europe. What was the UBoat in World War 1?
The U-Boat in the first World War, were German submarines that were used primarily, to sink merchant ships coming from the United States to UK. They also sunk ocean liners, which eventually led to America declaring war against Germany in 1917. The technology was still rather new and not nearly as effective as the German UBoats in World War 2. The Germans used their submarines much more than they ever used their surface fleet during the war. The German navy was very cautious about confronting the much larger British navy. When they did at the Battle of the Jutland Sea, both sides suffered heavy losses but from that time until the end of the war, the German fleet never again ventured out to fight the allies.

How did president Wilson lead America from neutrality into World War 1?
zimmermann act (Germany tries to get Mexico to pit against America-Note was intercepted by Americans) Submarines/Uboats/Sussex pledge- German's invent Submarines (change how war is fought. Used to tell someone you were going to attack them). Germany said it wouldn't attack US as long as it didn;t trade with Britain. America traded with Britain and Germany gave warning they would attack Luiitania. Americans still board ship and many die-act as if surprise attack. Republicans wanted to go to war (many threats surrounding US). Americans needed to be able to trade goods (Panic of 1907)
