The most significant change post-WWII was the shifting of powers. Before the war started out there numerous countries which were very close to being equally powered by means of military, economics, and politics. Those countries consisted of England, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, America, and the U.S.S.R. Once the war was over these powers had shifted immensely because there were no longer 7-8 equal powers, there were only two superpowers, America and The Soviet Union. This was the first time in history where there were only two evident superpowers world wide. This provoked the Cold War and near destroyed every person on the planet. Social Darwinism did not directly cause World War II, but it did contribute to ideologies like fascism and Naziism that played a significant role in the war. These ideologies promoted the idea of survival of the fittest and superiority of certain races, leading to policies of aggression, expansion, and genocide. In this way, social Darwinism indirectly influenced the events and outcomes of World War II.
