During the black plague in Europe during the 1300s an estimated 75 to 200 million people died. During peaks of the outbreak English theaters had to shut down since the close concentration of people would have worked to further spread the virus.
Plague. Pneumonic plague, to be precise.
The plague
Plague closed the theaters. it is a disease.
they were affected by not having anybody come. no buisness. plus police usually shut them down because they were afraid that it would spread even faster.
Since so many people died of the plague, the people that ran the theater were desperate for actors/actresses. They even hired the ill, which made the audiance sick too.
During outbreaks of the Bubonic Plague all the theaters in London would be ordered to shut down. The chances of surviving the plague were only 50%.
At the time of the plague there were very few schools and those schools that did exist mainly taught Mathematics and The Classics (Greek and Latin). The plague effected everyone in much the same way, regardless of whether they were rich or poor, teachers or pupils.
A 3rd of Europes population was affected.
Because people would get sick causing them to potentially to die, most theaters in London were closed during the outbreak. The Globe Theatre was closed in 1593.
