The Appalachian Mountains run through Pennsylvania.
How many mountains are there in the U.S.? Hundreds, in the Appalacians, the Rockies, the Cascades, the Sierra Nevada, and others.
The Western U.S. for sure. The east has the Appalachian Mountains but the west has the Rocky Mountains. The Rockies are far more extensive than the Appalacians. They stretch from southern U.S. all the way to Canada.
Nearly all rivers west of the Appalacians and east of the Rockies run into the Mississippi, or into some other river that runs into (another river that runs into...) the Mississippi. A couple of examples that do it directly: the Illinois, the Missouri, the Arkansas.
