How were the animals in World War 2 looked after?

If that means "were there animals used in World War II?" then the answer is "yes" and often in surprising ways. Dogs were trained for use by the American forces in the Pacific theater. Because of the thick jungle, it was often impossible to know if enemies were near or not. The keen ears and noses of the jungle dogs allowed American troops to get a crucial advantage in knowing if enemy soldiers were approaching long before the enemy would be aware they were getting close. Also, there were several strange attempts to use animals as weapons. There were efforts made to train pigeons to guide bombs and also a scheme to release enormous numbers of bats equipped with incendiary devices into enemy territory in hopes the animals would set fire to random areas. On a slightly related note, the Japanese apparently had made a plan to contaminate bird feathers with biological agents and drop them out of a plane. The hope was that the feathers would spread over a massive area because of their light weight and cause disease among anyone who came in contact with the feathers.
