The middle colonies had good soil and were able to produce cash crops. This means they grew enough to sell and make a profit. The New England colonies were only able to grow enough for a family or just a bit trade or to sell, but not as much as the middle colonies did. They had to go to other things like fishing and building boats.
New England colonies didn't have many farms, so they couldn't grow much, although they did grow molasses. In the middle colonies, they grew wheat, rye, oats, and even occasionally tobacco. This is because the Middle Colonies had more fertile soil than the New England colonies.
The biggest difference between the two regions is the soil composure. In New England you had a much rockier soil composure while in the Middle Colonies you had a much softer, fertile soil composure. Because of this farming in the New England colonies was very hard. Also becasue of the difference in soil composure there are different kinds of forests. In New England you have many more coniferous forests, because of the colder weather patterns and harder soil composition, in the Middle states forest are dominated by deciduos trees, or trees that loose their leaves in autumn. The climate in the New England colonies is much harsher also leading to short planting seasons for the Pilgrims. It was not an ideal location for a settlement. Basically, the middle colonies were better for farming.
The New England's didn't have fertile soil like the Southern colonies did.
the soil in the middle colonies was better for farming than the soil in new England. also the climate was milder, and the growing season was longer
they had warmer climate
No the Middle Colonies had bigger farms :)
With the climate harsh there is a short growing season, there for there are small farms than the middle colonies.
The Middle Colonies had farms but not plantations. Southern Colonies had plantations and farms. (The plantations were bigger than the farms.)
New England farms were smaller because with cold climate, poor soil and short growing season to stop agriculture. The Southern Colonies were like the opposite.
cause the farms in this fertile area were larger and the people lived farther apart than the people in New England.

Crops were produced on farms in the Middle Colonies.
The middle colonies were able to produce and sell more while new England had a harsher climate and bad soil making them subsistence farmers
