Marriages should be arranged if the two people involved want them to be.

Most are very much against arranged marriages, at least in the Western world.
For the Chinese, arranged marriages mainly occur in rich families. The reason is that if the rich match with the rich their empire will be bigger and larger. This will bring more money and more business and ensure that the business will not fall into the wrong hands but rather to the chosen ones.
The Hebrews were very into arranged marriage but I don't know of any MODERN religions that are into arranged marriages. They silly if you ask me...
Arranged marriages leave no scope for interfaith marriages so that means a particular religion propagates through progeny and the numbers are maintained
