Both were between northern communist and southern democratic countries. Both were proxy wars where communist red china supported the north, and the U.S. and their allies supported the South.

They differ in that the Korean War was simply stalled with a cease fire agreement, and the Vietnam War ended with the unification of the two into a single communist country.
